A wall backdrop is a good location for this magnificent bouganvillea, a remarkably drought tolerant climber,
loves full sun and gives me a year full of blooms.

And the hummingbirds love them.

This long living Kaffir Lily is especially drought
tolerant and an excellent choice for containers. 

This particular one has been in the same
container for 15 years.

A visit to Marylou's yard has a distinctly lush tropical feel. 
Surprisingly, she explains, the plants are drought tolerant
and environmentally self sustaining keeping maintenance
 at a minimum, a virtual micro-climate.
